How To Survive During Food and Economic Crisis

You must have noticed that every time you go to the grocery store or fresh market to shop for food items, its either the prices have gone up or there is a noticeable scarcity of supplies. The food shortage is already here and if you haven’t noticed that, you must be too rich to notice the changes or you no longer have the money to purchase food so you don’t notice at all.  If you are among the numerous individuals who can already feel the punishing lashes of economic crisis, take a look at the following tips on how you can survive amid food scarcity and depression.

Keep a Garden

If you have an extra space in your backyard, it would help you a lot if you would grow some vegetables on it because you never know when the prices of vegetables and other basic ingredients would sky rocket.

If you have your very own garden, you no longer have to spend for your vegetables and the money you save can be used on other basic necessities or other non perishable food items such as canned goods.

If you do not have an idea about planting tomato, carrots and other herbs, you can always refer to books and agricultural magazines. The internet also holds a lot of sources when it comes to growing veggies. If you do not have a backyard, you can always plant indoors or even on hanging pots. Aside from saving, you will also increase the oxygen supply in your area and this is also good for the environment. Seeds are available in your local market and agricultural shops.

Stock Up Some Food Items

If season and your location make it hard for you to plant vegetables, you can always stock some ready to eat meals or canned goods in preparation for days when you cannot afford to purchase food or when there are no longer food available in the market.

Whenever you do some grocery, always make it a point to buy an extra can or portion. It will surely save you on rainy days. Not only will you be ready for food crises, you will also have something to turn to when disaster strikes. These things are unpredictable and it always pays to be ready for them.

Store Your Supplies Well

In order to have something to take during food shortage, you should store your supplies properly. Keep your cupboards clean and dry. If you have an underground storage room, the better. You never know when mobs or desperate men would violate your home so it is always better to keep your food safe and to prepare for the worst case scenario. Times are getting desperate and so are people.

Be Informed

Right Information is always the key to survive and ignorance is the start of your demise.

Read newspapers and watch the news so you know when you will tighten your grip or when to loosen up. There are books that provide information on how to survive during crisis and it would be better if you read them as part of your preparation.
